Tumby Bay Youth Advisory Council
The District Council of Tumby Bay Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is back in 2023!
Over many years the YAC have demonstrated their commitment to identifying and addressing the needs of young people in our district. We've had enthusiastic and vibrant young people who work to improve life and wellbeing for themselves and their peers, cultivate new skills and make a difference in their community.
To get involved you need to be:
- aged 14 - 18 years
- live, work, study , play or volunteer in the District Council of Tumby Bay
- be able to attend monthly meetings and participate in YAC activities.
What will the YAC do?
This will be decided by the group, however, some ideas the YAC may touch on in 2023 include:
- How young people can influence decision making - from community to the chamber
- The power (or not) of social media and how/what messaging is crucial between council and community
- Environmental impact on the future of young poeple by not fully recycling in the District Council of Tumby Bay
- Lead a Clean-up Australia Day activity – District Council of Tumby Bay tidy day
- Lead a coastal saltmarsh redevelopment activity in association with the EP Landscape Board
- Kite day at the Tumby Bay oval - for all young people - and the young at heart!
- Volunteering - the impact it can have on self and others
- National Youth Week – planning for 2024
- Connection with the Youth Empowerment and Skateboard Program
- Colour Tumby Festival - planning for impact in 2024
