The District Council of Tumby Bay has recently been advised that its applications to the South Australian Government’s Algal Bloom Response: Local Government Grant Fund have been successful.
At its Ordinary Meeting on 9 December 2025, Council resolved to submit applications for:
- a Merit Based Grant for remediation of historic dumping within the Second Creek wetland corridor; and
- a General Purpose Grant for priority beach access reinstatement and improvements in Tumby Bay and Port Neill.
Funding has been formally offered for:
- Second Creek Wetland Clean Up – $339,550 (ex GST)
- Beach Access Reinstatement – $50,000 (ex GST)
Council is currently awaiting execution of the formal funding agreement. Delivery will proceed in accordance with grant conditions and any required statutory approvals.
A separate project for a new timber beach access ramp in Tumby Bay will also occur concurrently with the beach access works. This ramp is fully funded through a Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal Grant and is managed under a separate funding agreement. More information about this project can be found on council’s website.
