OPENING THE UPGRADED MANGROVE BOARDWALK

Member for Flinders Peter Treloar and District Council of Tumby Bay Mayor Sam Telfer will official open the upgraded Tumby Bay Mangrove Boardwalk on Sunday October 17 at 10.30am.
All are invited to attend and recognise the achievements of the project which was made possible by a partnership of the State Government’s “Places for People” grant program, District Council of Tumby Bay, Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board and Tumby Bay Progress Association.
Each party provided significant investment into the project, allowing enjoyment of the unique environment of Tumby Bay’s wetlands:
$100,000 State Government
$120,000 District Council of Tumby Bay
$10,000 Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board
$5,000 Tumby Bay Progress Association
The opening will be followed by a community-run event to raise awareness for the mental wellbeing benefits of fitness and being out in nature.
The Beacon of Hope Wellbeing Group and local Parkinsons Support Group will host a walk for mental wellbeing from the mangrove boardwalk on Berryman Street to the Island Lookout Tower and Reserve.
The event at the reserve will feature activities for kids and adults alike, a free sausage sizzle, art and craft, outdoor games and guest speakers to talk on the importance of being active for wellbeing.
All are welcome to both the opening of the boardwalk and the wellbeing walk.
