- Open Day
The Butler community is set to dig up the past with the opening of a 25 year old time capsule.
April 1995 saw the 100th anniversary of the proclamation of the Hundred of Butler. As part of the centenary celebrations, a time capsule was buried containing messages to the future from the local families.
Celebrations will begin with an afternoon tea on Saturday March 28 at the The Bluff 'old house' from 2-4pm with the landowners, residents and families both current and past invited to join the weekends festivities.
The official raising of the capsule will be on Sunday March 29 with a morning tea at the Butler CFS shed from 10am with the opening set for 10.30am.
The capsule will then be resealed for another 25 years, with the community encouraged to contribute items for the Butler community of 2045.
Those wishing to contribute item to the capsule are asked to provide a DL size envelope with contents no thicker than 5mm to the organisers on the weekend.
Butler history book 'In the Shadow of The Bluff' will be available for purchase at $25ea.
Following the opening, the group will head to the Port Neill Green Shed for a pooled BYO BBQ lunch.
